My name is Brittany Courteau, I am a registered social worker with the OCSWSSW and CASW. I completed my master’s in social work through the University of Windsor and my undergraduate degree in criminology with honours through Wilfrid Laurier University. I finished my EMDR level 1 and level 2 training and am a member of EMDR Canada and the EMDR International Association. I have spent the past seven years working with children, adolescents, and adults struggling with complex special needs. Spending this front-line time in social services allowed me to see the connection between unresolved trauma and maladaptive behaviours firsthand.
Making the decision to obtain my master’s and shift my career towards counselling was largely fuelled by my personal and professional experiences. Working in the community I could see the service gaps that existed and understood that one size fits all approaches were not cutting it. My hope was to further my understanding of trauma and how it manifests so that I could work with others in meaningful ways. Personally, I have had my share of challenges to overcome, and it was only through receiving counselling myself that I could begin my healing journey.
A quote that has always resonated with me is “Instead of saying “I’m damaged, I’m broken, I have trust issues.” I say, “I’m healing, I’m rediscovering myself, I’m starting over.”- Horacio Jones. Your difficulties don’t have to be a life sentence. With the right guidance you can turn the page and begin anew.

As a Qualifying Psychotherapist (QRP), I work with teens, young adults, and adults who feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck in survival mode. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship conflict, and generational trauma—patterns that can feel deeply rooted and hard to break. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can slow down, reconnect with yourself, and begin to make sense of what’s been weighing on you.
I know that starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially when you’ve been carrying things on your own for so long. Feeling helpless, alone, or unsure where to start—I get it too. My intention is to walk alongside you on your healing journey with empathy, curiosity, and care, helping you rediscover strength and hope along the way.
I draw from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and somatic therapy to support each person’s unique needs and pace. I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and have also graduated from Child and Youth Care work, which informs my understanding of human development, attachment, and resilience.
If you’re ready to begin your journey toward healing, I’d be honoured to walk beside you. I’m committed to helping you feel seen, supported, and empowered to build a life that feels more balanced, grounded, and authentically your own. And if you don’t connect or vibe with me, that’s okay. I want you to continue your journey and not give up. Thank you for taking this first step—one of many—toward your healing journey.

I believe healing and personal growth happens in the presence of understanding, connection, and
trust. When people feel safe and supported, they can begin to make sense of their emotional
experiences, deepen self-awareness, and identify what they need to move forward with greater
clarity and confidence.
I specialize in working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and
relationship challenges, and have over 7 years of experience in the mental health field. Most
recently, I have worked with neurodivergent adults, including those with ADHD and ASD, who
are managing co-occurring concerns such as anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and childhood
trauma.
My approach is person-centered and integrative, drawing from evidence-based modalities such
as CBT, EFT, and psychodynamic principles to provide personalized treatment. I aim to help
clients understand not only how to cope in the present, but also why certain emotional and
relational patterns may have developed.
I strive to offer a space that feels supportive, collaborative, and grounded. If you feel we might

If you’re here, something might be off. Maybe it’s stress or anxiety that won’t go away. Maybe it’s relationship or family conflict, work pressure, or feeling stuck in a place you can’t name. Or it may be something heavier — crisis, trauma, PTSD, deep loss, illness, or major life change. Whatever it is, I’m here to help. I bring over a decade of experience as a therapist and served as Clinical Director at one of the largest Asian mental health clinics in North America. I have particular expertise with women, youth, elders, couples, immigrants, Asian, 2SLGBTQIA+, and those navigating individual and/or generational trauma, cross-cultural, racial, or gender-based challenges.
There are many therapeutic approaches out there. I’ve trained in a wide range, and I have a full toolkit. But honestly, that’s not what matters most. What matters is what actually works the best for you. We’ll figure that out together — at your pace, in a way that fits your needs. “Client-centered” isn’t just a buzzword to me — it’s the heart of how I work.
We’ll start by creating a safe, grounded space where you can slow down and make sense of what’s happening. Then we build practical ways to cope — such as to face emotions and not feel overwhelmed by them. When you’re ready, we’ll explore deeper layers of your experience — places that may feel unfamiliar now, but hold insight, resilience, and room for growth.

For most of us, our challenges start as a response to significant change, loss, trauma, tragedy, or reversal that leads to disconnection. Losses, defeats, humiliations, or life transitions leave us trapped by our circumstances. Sometimes they may be more subtle and less visible, causing us to internalize feelings and suffer in silence. Our internal experience is filled with recurring themes and patterns in our lives that are causing us trouble, and they play out again and again, so we become conditioned by them. In therapy, we’ll explore how these patterns, often rooted in early relationships and attachments, continue to appear in your present life. This isn’t about dwelling on the past. It’s about understanding how your history shapes your current experiences and gently loosening the grip of painful emotional memories, so you can move forward with clarity, strength, and self-compassion.
I am committed to addressing the root cause of suffering by using Psychodynamic approaches, Trauma-informed Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) in combination with other therapeutic techniques and modalities.
I create a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you can safely explore the emotional and physical aspects of mental suffering. I focus on working at your pace and readiness, restoring hope, and guiding you towards healing and inner peace.
You don’t have to go through this alone. If you’re ready to take the next step, I invite you to reach out for a free consultation. Let’s begin the journey toward healing together.

I am currently a Masters level MA in Counselling Psychology practicum student, practicing onsite under the clinical supervision of an approved Site Supervisor.
My journey into counselling didn’t start in an office with a bookshelf of psychology texts it began on the gym floor, helping people lift more than just weights. As a personal trainer, I realized that while physical strength is important, what truly fascinated me was the resilience and complexity of the human mind. People found it easy to open up to me, maybe because I listened without judgment.
Curiosity (and maybe a touch of existential wonder) led me from fitness into mindfulness coaching, where I learned the art of being present, even when life feels like a never-ending group chat pinging on ten different apps. Through years of mentorship and my own practice, I became a student of psychology, human nature, and even a bit of spirituality because sometimes you need more than deep breathing to get through the day. The more I learned, the clearer it became we live in a world that’s fast, noisy, and always “on.” No wonder anxiety, depression, and overwhelm are frequent visitors in our lives and no wonder we’re so hard on ourselves when we can’t keep up.
When it comes to how I can support you, my specializations include working with anxiety disorders, ADHD, dopamine detoxes/overstimulation, depression, stress management, and couples therapy. I draw from a blend of proven modalities:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) to help you notice and shift unhelpful thought patterns
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) for practical, forward-thinking strategies
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) to help connect with and process deep emotions, and Gestalt therapy for increasing self-awareness and living more authentically.
If we end up working together, you can expect a collaborative, culturally sensitive, and down-to-earth approach always with a sense of curiosity and, when appropriate, a touch of humor. My goal is to help you navigate life’s challenges and rediscover your strengths, one step at a time.
